Current Position

Isabelle Mirbel obtained her PhD in Computer Science in 1996 from Université Côte d'Azur (formerly Université Nice Sophia Antipolis). She then spent a year and a half as a postdoc at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) under the supervision of Barbara Pernici before being recruited in the Computer Sciences department at Université Côte d’Azur in 1998. She is currently associate professor in computer science within the EUR DS4H - Digital Systems for Humans.

From 2012 to 2018, she was vice-dean of the Faculty of Sciences. In 2016, she initiated a pedagogical transformation process at the Faculty of Sciences to implement the competency-based approach in bachelor's and master's degree courses. She also managed the "Sciences à la carte" project (funded by the Unisciel Digital University) to systematically develop Moodle self-positioning tests to support bachelor students at the Faculty of Sciences in their learning and career choices.

Her contribution to pedagogical transformation at the Faculty of Sciences enabled her, in 2019, to obtain the Senior Fellow certification from the Higher Education Academy (UK).

Since 2019, Isabelle Mirbel has been the scientific and technical manager of the L@UCA project (PIA3 - Licence à l'Université, Compétences et Adaptabilité), which aims to drive and support a pedagogical transformation process of general bachelor's degree courses through the deployment of new pedagogical practices, the development of a new dynamic in terms of carrer choices, and the personalization of training paths.

Since 2023, Isabelle Mirbel has been appointed Director of the Center for Active Pedagogy at Université Côte d’Azur. Since 2024, she has also been appointed Vice-President for educational transformation and lifelong learning.
