Andrea G. B. Tettamanzi's Photograph Andrea G. B. Tettamanzi

Andrea Tettamanzi is a full professor at the Nice Sophia Antipolis University (member of the Université Côte d'Azur), where his research affiliation is with the I3S Laboratory and his teaching affiliation is with the Département Informatique.

He is head of the SPARKS research team and a member of the Wimmics joint research project between the I3S Laboratory and Inria.

His major research interests are: evolutionary algorithms, fuzzy logic, and soft computing (or computational intelligence) in general; knowledge representation and extraction; the Semantic Web; and the logical foundations of cognitive agents.

In 1995, he was one of the founders of Genetica S.r.l. - Advanced Software Architectures, a Milan-based company specializing in soft computing consulting and applications, of which he finally sold his share in 2008. From 1998 to 2012 he was with the University of Milan, as an assistant professor and then as an associate professor.

He is a member of ACM and AFIA.

Current Organizational Activities

General Chair of the 10th International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM 2016), which will be held on the French Riviera in September 2016.

Deputy coordinator of the EMMA 2014 Erasmus Mundus Mobility Programme, funded by the European Commission.

Member of the IFIP Working Group 12.1 - Knowledge Representation and Reasoning.
