"Multidimensional Characterization of the ECG Signal for Predicting the Success of the RF Catheter Ablation Therapy in Persistent Atrial Fibrillation Patients"

<Restricted access>

Project Summary

Held responsible of up to 25% of strokes, atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice. The radiofrequency catheter ablation therapy is increasingly employed to treat this cardiac condition, but it is a costly, time-consuming procedure with risks of complications for the patient and uncertain success rates. To improve the patient-tailored management of persistent AF, the project aims at an accurate automated prediction of catheter ablation outcome by means of signal processing techniques for exploiting the spatial diversity (multiple electrodes) of surface ECG recordings.
